Pfizer’s commitment to sickle cell

We see you.

Seeing isn’t just believing—it’s understanding.

In a world where people living with sickle cell are often defined by their condition, Pfizer continues to help support the fight against sickle cell while also seeing them on their journey.

We are still here, and we are still showing up.

I never asked for this. I never wished for pain, or sickness, or fear. But maybe I was chosen for a reason, chosen to bear the weight of sickle cell—not as a punishment, but as an opportunity. Maybe my story will make an impact on someone’s life.

—Markus, sickle cell warrior

Here's how we're showing up.

Sickle cell research and development

Continuing our research to develop treatment options for people living with sickle cell

Scholarship program

Helping empower eligible individuals living with sickle cell to pursue their academic and vocational goals and alleviate some of the financial burden of education

Sickle cell transportation initiative

A program that supports nonprofit organizations in their mission to ease the burden of travel to healthcare appointments for people living with sickle cell and their caregivers

My doctors told me that most people with sickle cell don’t live past the age of 18. They don’t make plans... As I entered my 20s, I decided it was time to take control of not only my health, but my life... I also started using aids to help me walk when I needed to, letting go of the embarrassment that had stopped me from using a cane or walker in the past... Today, I am here despite what others believed!
